Okay so I take the yellow wire from the low beam, use the wire from the low beam to connect to a new wire and then solder new wire onto radiator support using a ring, I messed up....I cut the wire close to the harness because I thought I needed to use the other side to connect to the radiator but I really need to go from the harness to the radiator support right

I did the yellow wire on the driver side only on my old 2000 Bravada and it worked as advertised. This will not work on a ZR2 as the headlight wiring is different on them.

As stated, I soldered the new wire to the yellow wire, then used a crimp on ring terminal that was then attached to the radiator core support using a sheet metal screw. Some have used the clip on wire taps to connect the new wire to the original yellow wire and not had a problem, but I would always rather solder for items out in the elements.

The OP specifically states to not cut this wire. You splice into it.

This isn't true, it depends which spot your truck uses as the DRL's. It's not dependent on ZR2 or not. Some use low beams as DRL's, which the mod works for and some trucks use the high beams, which the mod doesn't work for. It can still be done, just not as easily.

My statement is based on reviewing wiring diagrams for the 98+ s-series suvs. My references were Mitchell's Ondemand and AllDataDIY for 98-03 and both were consistent in that the standard S-series Blazer used the high beams in series as the DRL while the ZR2 models used the standard low beams.

It is possible that regions other than the USA had regular S-series vehicles use the standard low beams, but the 98+ method posted is for the trucks that use the high beams in series for the DRL.

I have the wiring diagrams in my photobucket account if you would like to review them.

I'm going by other forums where people have done the mods and are proven to be working.

My ZR2 uses high beam running lights, so that right there shows that the references have errors.
