Car Audio Discussion
anything maxxsonics usually does 100-200w under RMS rated power at perfect voltage. Over is not likely, just judging from the benchmarks i've seen. Most people don't have the electrical to run them so they never see even close to benchmark numbers
well if you build the box, you can easily do the subs yourself and save yourself a little more money. if you're carpet is already pulled, you can run all your wires yourself and then just have them hook the speakers up and such to save a little more. it sounds like nothing but that is more money saved
Well its my first build.. and its a BIG one.. Haha. I just really dont wanna mess anything up. Sure, if you have me 1 or 2 12's, an amp, and some wire, i'll do it in a minute.
But 8 12's, 2 amps, batteries, speakers, fuses, etc. Thats a big job for a beginner! Haha

you really have to look at what voltage they test their amps at too, preferably its done at 12 volts. Most do it at 14.4 which you will rarely hold.
EXO (if you've heard of him) on youtube has some really good videos for making bus bars and fuse holders and such, really good videos.

I just wanted to put up a quick reply about running Subs with a stock radio.
I recently purchased a 95 4x4 4.3L 4 door blazer with 120k miles and didn't want to put an after market radio in unless I found the right radio at the right price but I wanted to run the subs from my old vehicle. I took a wire and spliced into the rear speakers. Since the speakers are in the doors i just found it easier to run a wire from the radio all the way back to the subs. At the subs I soldered a 10k 1/4 watt resistor in line to bring the the speaker level audio down to line level. Now if your amp has digital inputs (not usually in car audio) this won't work. I'm running this setup now but in retrospect I might have used a 12k resistor, the gain on my amp is all the way down and I would like some adjusting room.
If anyone wants more particulars involved with installing this setup, let me know.

if you want "sq", people base that on how music sounds at a concert or live show, where there are NO SPEAKERS BEHIND YOU, sure the acoustics of the building helps alot, but the same should go for your car.
all those speakers at different distances do not produce good imaging, and would be difficult to sound right with different parts of the music hitting you at different times...
and not to be an *** but all those speakers you posted are garbage, buy something with a crossover. for the price and the crazy (crazy!) amount of reviews praising these, they cant be beat. http://www.woofersetc.com/p6952/RSD6...ker-System.htm
but then again, sound is totally subjective do yourself a favor and read about those guys a little.

last time i checked infinity has better speakers then off brand phoenix gold, and there crossover models cost a bit more then $80. sure crossovers would sound better but what he has gets the job done... for christ sake he owns a space shuttle in my eyes still so he could fill that damn thing with how ever many speakers he'd like.
