for $500 there are a lot of things i'd get to start off instead of that but thats me. i have been known to stay true to certain brands and what not. (i have no credit card so i have to buy locally) i personally don't like anything hifonics or crunch. i had an amp from them and the controls just felt too fragile.

my stuff is stupidly expensive and you're paying for the name/ long term life span, not the gobs of power

MTopper, I would highly recommend grabbing a pre-paid credit card like a greendot or a walmart money card. Can use them easily online to get stuff and possibly save yourself a fortune being able to get some of the online prices. Hell, you can even link one to a Paypal account if you want to.

As for your choice there 97cherryblazer, there's better products out there for sure. Give me your maximum budget and I'll be glad to give it a run and see what all can be done. I'll come back and give you a list with prices and such, and we can let anyone who has a better suggestion for the same money give it. We'll make it a community effort to get you the best bang for your buck!

Yea. I know people say you'll sink in debt but If its pre-paid your good to go. Plus you can get anything and everything. I'm in Canada and Fi is a cheap sub lol. Local dealers want $1000 for anything with a big name. Orion HCCA. $1000, no way. Fi BL shipped to my door for $500. THATS a deal! Even Incriminator Audio to my door is $500. Not worth the markup on big name brands. I still love my local small shop but I wont buy anything HUGE from them. He also charges 10/foot 0AWG. Stupid!

thats a double din head unit you'll have to do some fabing up to make it fit.I've heard hifonics is pretty good, I've never had experience with it. My gf has those kenwoods in her car they sounded pretty good. That amp is only going to power your sub at 1/2 power @ 4 ohm about 150 watts, the speakers should get a decent amount of power at about 60 watts @ 4 ohm. I'd say that is a good starter system other than the sony head unit, and you may want to go with a more powerful amp to power your sub, which can handle 300 watts at 4 ohm. never look at the peak power that is theoretical only and pretty much says the speakers/sub will blow up at this much power in ideal conditions. in normal conditions never go about the rms rating

a buddy of mine offered me his system which has two amps, two 8 inch subs, a 12 inch sub and 4 door speakers all alpine and about 3 years old for 300$. he got a wife and a kid so he has to get rid of it thats why its so cheap. so i think im gunna go with that. as long as i set the subs up right it should sound good.
