Use a voltmeter to make sure there is power going to the fuse in the panel. If that is good then test the wire at your stereo. If that is bad then there is a problem in between. Easiest thing to do is to snip the wire coming out of panel to stereo and then add a new wire to run to stereo. I always make a new ground to ensure that there is a good ground source and then the turn on lead(ignition wire) can just be connected to any source pretty much that has voltage only when vehicle is on.

I personally run all new wires when I run a new system even if its just a stereo. I dont trust the wimpy wires that come stock in vehicles and its not that hard to run a new wire for the constant then just tap into the ignition for turn on lead and run a new ground then your done.

yea i was thinking of running a new wire. so i have to connect it to the ignition?
