I want to install two ham radios in my '95 Blazer. The IC-2820 dual bander is straightforward, and I can handle that. The FT-857, not so much. The hard part is mounting the HF antenna.

I'm using a Hi-Q 3/80RT, which the 857 can tune automatically with an external adapter box. It's a big, heavy antenna, and will need a sturdy mount. It's also 4 feet long from the base to the place where the whip mounts. I need to get it high, with the loading coil above the roofline if at all possible. I'd like to mount it on the driver's side, where the tailgate and glass will clear it.

Anyone running HF mobile in their Blazers? Where do you mount your antenna?
