need some help connecting power wire to battery

The way I had the wires ran to the sub itself was wrong. I was trying to run a positive and negative from both voice coils to the box when I should have bridged one set.

yep. sounds like you had your sub connected at an impedence that your amp could not handle. Good thing you caught it early. You could have easily fried your amp.

haha yeah about 8 ohms over double what its rated for. Im running 2 ohms now and the amp/sub seem to like it pretty well.

? i thought all amps could run 8 ohm. if heat build-up was your problem, running at 2ohms will definatly give you more heat
