Sealed Vs. Ported Box

You will most likely not get any difference in bass response from inverting your subs. If you go too big on your box, you can destroy your subs. Use a nice program like bass box pro, or winIsd to calculate your box size.

you can also go to the12volt.com or click here to get dimensions for your box size

RE: Sealed Vs. Ported Box
hillbilly, maybe im just talking out my a@#but theres ALOT of subs now days with HUUUUGE motors, which take up space in the box......hence reducing the overall volume, right?
so wouldnt inverting give it more space?
Now i know his subs motors arnt as big as soom, so this dosent really relate to the thread too much.......but is my theory correct or not?

RE: Sealed Vs. Ported Box
you would think so but i don't think it quite works that way

RE: Sealed Vs. Ported Box
it is true that subs have huge amounts of displacement, but that is factored in when building a box to correct specs.

RE: Sealed Vs. Ported Box
regardless of what your program and box design claims or calculates you can still tune your enclosure by flipping the woofers and or placing blocks / additional bracing to reduce the interior volume. I startbig and then tune down.
If it sound betters with the woofer inverted, try adding polyfill as it is likely your box is undersized. put some chicken wire oer the inside to prevent blowing itout.
Let your ears decide

RE: Sealed Vs. Ported Box
okay so the only thing i know for sure is use the ported box :P, but im thinkin of still keeping them inverted facing up wards with the port facing upwards also then, i have the 2 12's (550 watt each) being powered by a 1000 watt alpine v12 series amp, a seperate 4 channel for my speakers, capcitor and a couple fuse blocks if any of that helps im not sure and i measured my box just now its 38 1/4 long, 25 wide, and 20 and a half inches deep. and my sealed box im using now is 36 long , 13 wide only and 12 and a half deep.

RE: Sealed Vs. Ported Box
that seems like a huge box for two 12's. I would recheck the recommended specs from audiobahn.
