We all have a lot to learn. I've been working with audio (designing/building boxes, installations, etc. mostly with home audio that early, car audio when I got a little older) since I was ~13. Had some friends teaching me some really cool stuff real early. Even so there's still so much more to learn. The worst problem is that it seems like more than half the information we get taught, especially from friends, is not accurate. I started a car club locally to help teach the kids who are starting out in the hobby the right from the wrong. It's not easy, but it's working some. There's nothing wrong with questioning whether or not what someone teaches you is correct or not, you may end up learning more than you can imagine by doing so.
Time alignment FTW! Can't beat what that can do for you at all.

So should I go with a set of Kicker 11DS652 or 11KS652. While I hope to add an amp in the near future they wont be hooked up w/ one at first.

if youre willing to spend 150$ on a set of components, you can do much better than that kicker set.
