hey

also, if your subs are what a normal type E ( single 4 OHM voice coil ) and your amp is the sony I am thinking ( 200 RMs at 4 ohm stereo and 500 RMS at 4 ohm bridged) then the max you are giving your subs is 200 RMS a piece at full tilt. so if you do desperatly want to upgrade your amp I would look into something that makes power at 2 OHM, with headroom, because you can easily overpower your subs if the signal is clean and unclipped,
now you could go the easy way and get another sony amp and run each sub bridged to one amp giving each sub 500 watts roughly, that is if the amp puts out what it is rated, or you could go with something a little better. among my favorites are crossfire, US amps, elemental designs, Cadence, Hifonics ( anything above the brutus series ) Phoesnix Gold ( they did a major comeback ), memphis , and if you have no decent budget, but want a decent amp, try Lanzar, their amps are priced REALLY well, and they get extremly close to what their rated. but if you get a lanzar, make sure you have the electrical system to back it up, because they don't like to go below 12V . now with a 1000 watt setup you shouldn't really have a big problem with that, just make sure you run the proper wire size and such.
Now if money REALLY is an issue, and you want a amp that puts out and sounds pretty decent ( little better then your sony ) you can try the SoundStorm 1FD1500, it is rated 1000W RMS at 2 OHM and it actually puts that out.It is also 1 ohm stable for later on if you wanna upgrade to those swarmed over type R's in dual 4 Ohm style, which would set each sup with about 700 to 750 W RMS up.
you can find the SS 1FD1500 for as cheap as 130 NEW !

http://www.audiooutfitter.com/1fd150...m/p637781.html new 137
http://www.savinglots.com/lotprod.as...FQRuZQod30HzBQ154 SHIPPED !
so their out there, furthermore, you can strap these, which means you can strap 2 amps of the same kind together to act as one and efectivly doubling power.
if you have any more questions, feel free to ask

no way that soundstorm amp puts our anywhere near 1000w RMS. not a chance. I have seen the board in that amp. you would be better off buying a refurbed Kicker ZX 750 or 1000. those will pur out true power plus some.

I would go with Kicker L7s if you have the money. I had two 12" L5s in my Eagle Summit and hit 136db at the windshield. I now have two 10" L7s with a Kicker 1200.1 amp in my blazer. I am hitting 143 at the dash (without tuning the amp). If I tune it properly, I could probably hit 145-147 no problem.
It hits so hard, my rearview mirror only stays in place for a minute. After that I am seeing the rear seat in the rv mirror.

hey 1000 RMS might not be clean .. or really that nice sounding. but hey .. it is on par with the Sony's
as far as I am concerned, even if their over rated, which they probably are just like most all the "cheaper" products out their, they don't sound half bad. if I needed a really cheap amp, thats the one I would get, and I have some nice amps on my own, so my expectations aren't low.
I have Crossfire VR 4000, Cadence Z1200, US amps MD-2D, PG Xenon 1200.1, and others.
that little amp is not bad. yeah you can do better, but it is NEW with warranty, not refurbished. I mean if you throw a budget out there, I will most definatly look more into it.

I would rather have 500rms of clean power than 1000 of crap, and I would recommend the same to others.
