On Sunday, we still had a lot of ice and snow on the side streets, so I went ahead and drove around to activate the ABS and immediately bled the lines again, and got more air out of the system. The brake pedal is much firmer than it has been since I got the vehicle, so it appears to have worked. I think I’ll try it again the next time we have snow on the ground, to see if I get any more air out of the system, but it seems like I’ve gotten most of it out. After two years of trying.

Now, on to fixing that rust hole.

Thanks! It doesn't seem to be sucking air in from anywhere. I'm sure it's related to the air that got into the ABS unit when I replaced the master cylinder.

 

Well, it’s been a year, and the brakes still work. I can’t remember if I posted this or not, but I replaced the rear brake shoes, springs, and wheel cylinders, and adjusted the shoes, and that made quite a difference, also.

Hopefully, I’ll finally get around to replacing the steering box and rag joint soon.

Also, the power locks don’t like to work when it’s cold. Do I need to replace the lock motors, or should I be able to clean and re-lube them to make them work? They work just fine when the weather is warm.

 

For the power locks all that you suggest should help.

Also check all the electrical connections for corrosion. They draw quite some power when activated and voltage drops can hamper them working properly.
I had one door where this happened and the connector to the lock was corroded. Replaced that connector and works like a charm.
