@eshaw so, the old style flange driver side stub shaft measures about 1 3/8" at the bearing contact point. 26 spline on the shaft.

I finally managed to get the correct seal. Advance sold me one that was way too big, returned it, and got the right one from a dealership. $20, but it's ac delco, and fits properly. Got it pressed in, and the cover sealed up and back on.

I'm letting the sealant cure up overnight, and I'll finish putting it back together in the morning. Then take it for its last ever emissions testing! After this year it's safety only, and $7 vs $35.

Have you got the part number for the correct seal? I'd like to have it if you do. Thanks

Well, the axle seal isn't leaking anymore, if it ever was in the first place. Unfortunately, I still have a nasty oil leak from the front diff. Doesn't leak when it's parked, but after a drive it does.

Pretty sure my jb weld patch isn't holding. I'm thinking the aluminum diff housing getting hot and expanding at a different rate than the jb weld has made it not stick. So, I get to drop the front diff (again) figure out how to get the carrier out, and sweet talk my buddy into welding up the hole.

Worst case, the welds don't work, and I get the fun of dropping a diff in the junkyard and having to buy a case half

Sounds to me like a good excuse to solid axle swap it!

All in due time! Until then, I need to have it drivable and not leaking

I know. I'm in the same boat. I'm looking for parts to swap mine. Right now I have a bad rear axle bearing and a gouged axle shaft I need to replace. Good luck on your repair.

Had the same issue on mine. Replaced the seal and bearing twice before I figured out the axle shaft was bad. Replaced it, haven't had an issue since

So, haven't been on in a while. Did some soul searching, and decided that, despite how much I loved it, the blazer wasn't the direction I wanted to go anymore. Decided to sell it, and pick up an 85 Toyota 4runner. Manual, solid front axle factory, and more aftermarket support than you would believe!

Posted the Blazer on fb and clist for $3k, and just over a week later I had a buyer willing to pay full asking. Needs it for his deer lease. Only has to fire up a few times a year, climb up a hill, and drive a half mile. Seems a decent retirement, to me!

I'll still be around here from time to time. Might even start a build thread when the eventual Toyota is bought, if y'all promise to not get the pitchforks and torches out after me, lol
