Took the bank 2 valve cover off and found 3 rocker nuts had loosened. At first I thought I didn’t set the lash, but the other 5 were still good. I reset and assembled it again and started it up. Sounded good, so I checked all the fluids and went to find a back road for the break in. Made it about 4km before the clatter started again and it was running like crap. Back to the garage, I guess.

So tomorrow morning I’m off to Buck’s Auto to get a full set of new (to me) nuts. NAPA doesn’t carry them, neither does B2B. I even checked Canadian Tire. I can buy a set of used ones from an engine builder, or I can get the same thing from the wrecker for cheaper. As long as I don’t chase the threads on these ones, I think I’ll be fine lol!

Might get me some poly locks if I can find them cheap enough. Who knows, maybe I’ll find a set at the junkyard...

I may have blown Thru the thread too quick but a common thing is that the rocker arm studs pull out of the heads. This can happen with stronger valve springs. Hope it is just the lock nuts though

great build
