2 months ago I found scanning light bars everywhere, a half dozen different companies and multiple sizes/models/modes. This morning all I can find are Plasmaglow brand or 60" tailgate bars. Weird. I must have changed my search term. Scanning led, scanning brake light, scanning light bar, cylon, knight rider, something like that. I saw one a couple of days ago that said you could cut to size, but damned if I can find that one again either. It must be Tuesday, I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.

Your LEDs will blow right away if you hook them to the vehicle 12v, gotta get that down somehow. Don't quote me, but I think I used a 470ohm (I had enough laying around to experiment, there's a formula to figure out what you need but I don't remember how to use it).
Attach resistor to positive, longest leg or the one opposite the flat spot

You'll have to cut the leads down to size anyway, so cut the positive shorter, leave room for an alligator clip (to keep some of the heat away) and solder the resistor right on.

Superbright might be able to save you some trouble (see here)

Yup, that's what I have on the front. It'd be pretty easy to replace your brake light with that if you want. Just unscrew the old one, put it in a safe place, and mount the Plasmaglo thing in it's place. I'd weatherproof it first, silicon rubber or something anywhere there might be a way for moisture to get in.

Alligator clip ... Like a roach clip. I guess some people call them crocodile clips

It's like caulk - bathroom and window or something. Thick, sticky, takes forever to dry, and I'm a bit of a klutz so it gets on everything when I'm trying to be careful. But I don't know what else to do.

I don't exactly have a lot of experience with roach clips, I haven't even seen pot in real life since Ozzy was at Red Rocks (No More Tears, I think it was), but I couldn't think of anything else those clips are used for

Seriously considering installing a backup camera on the thing. Maybe mounting the display where the ash tray is, since I only use it to hold spare change. I hope I can find one with an additional input so I can mount a camera in font as well. I'm sure I can think up an excuse for it ... eventually

Well, I did the above. Not impressed with the display down under the ashtray but the CD tray in the overhead is too far back to work. Maybe right above the rearview mirror, hanging off the front of the overhead console. I dunno. One that would fold away near the radio would be perfect, but I'm cheap* so that's not going to happen.

* I firmly deny that my Scottish roots have anything to do with being a total cheapskate. Living with that woman for 18 years now has a lot more to do with it

Forgot about this thread, haven't done anything interesting lately.

Replaced MAF sensor ( and air filter) today but it's still crippled. This makes me sad
