My bike 'Jenna'
#201
Well today I found out that my clutch is going bad. It's doing a lot of whirring when I pull the clutch in, it's been slipping at high torque for a while, and it doesn't start to disengage until it's almost pulled all the way to the handle bar. So looks like that will be the next project.

Can you adjust it?I know my bike is much older than yours but I can adjust the cable where its goes into the side cover to the internal clutch inside.
#203
Yeah I thought about that. I haven't tried it yet though.

I have ordered the new clutch and it should be here sometime in the next couple of days.
In the meantime, I decided that while the bike was down, I'd start a smaller project.
If you can see it, there is a small gap in the middle to separate the two sides a little bit. There is a reason for this.... More info as this unfolds.

Ok so I basically got the tail light done today.
Here's the difference from parking to brake.
This also shows the fact that I wired each side separately. I did this so that I can wire up the turn signals to each side. I have yet to do the extra wiring (it includes a couple of diodes, tapping into the turn signals, and using either two 5pin relays, or those magic flasher things) but the brake light function is all wired up and installed.

I got the clutch in today, and quickly installed it. Only took about 1.5 - 2 hrs. The handle did need a little adjustment (thanks for the idea btw) but the handle is a lot stiffer than before. I have yet to ride it as I didn't bother to soak the plates in oil prior to installation, but it should be good to go tomorrow.

Yeah the new springs I got for the clutch will take some getting used to though.

On my bike the clutch is fine for now but I might change to some stiffer springs at a later point.
For now Im replacing the rear brakes which failed on me yesterday.
BTW I like the tail light and noticed that you can light up half of a side is it hooked up to the turn signals?Because of my bikes charging system works and its much older its difficult an expensive to switch over to the led lights. Some guys have done it but you hav make alot of changes for it to work.

Right now the signals are not hooked up. I'll get around to it sooner or later.
So I rode it today, and the clutch feels great, but the problem with it bogging down and surging showed it's ugly head again. I'm thinking the carbs are having issues, so hopefully a new jet kit will solve that.
What's the issue with your charging system?
Oh, and here's a pic I like.
