yes, the old battleaxe still runs
runs well actually, still havent had time for the injectors, but i did get the turn signal switch and a new fan clutch installed today. now i finally have 3 tail lights instead of just one.
Also, because for some reason my truck doesnt play nice on anything thats not 93, its over 60 dollars to fill the tank
replaced the drivers info display in the overhead console, going to pull the old one apart and see if i can find the failure but for now it works, though its just displaying ~~ for all modes i think it just needs some drivetime/a few ignition cycles to recalibrate itself.
also got a more recent-ish picture.
Honestly, Its not really that special just on its trim, You get embroided door panels, meaning good luck finding replacements if they get messed up (im going to be liquid-flexsealing the backs of mine to prevent further damage and to get them to stop squeaking from the cracks they do have),and a full leather interior with all the fun stuff. If i had a choice i would take a spruced up LS trim in graphite simply for trim parts availability, Tan interior components are rather rare it seems though its my favorite interior color by far. Oh all that and NP8 option tcase as standard, which is nice, but it could be optioned and was on many other rigs. Its a nice rig, i love it to death and it has sentimental value to me as im the 3rd owner within my family over the past 11 years and i practically grew up in the backseat of it, but if i had the options (or if it was still 1999, god i wish) i'd take long term simplicity.
Love my neighbors, FedEx delivered the brakepads i ordered (Wagner OE Ceramic) to my neighbor up the road by mistake, different street name and housenumber, not sure how they F'd that one up but they brought them down to me just in time for Wednesday. the squealing on the passenger side is louder then the truck-with an upgraded exhaust- and i'd love to go for a quiet drive in the middle of the night without waking up half the neighborhood and the 5-0
Took 2 weeks longer then it should have, caliper was seized dead on the passenger side, 2 new calipers in, fully bled, new pads, and this thing stops better then the family's-runabout GMC Terrain with the same brand and grade of pads.
the difference between only having front brakes and having functioning 4 wheel disc is night and day.
Didnt get any pictures as i thought i'd stop leaving tools all over the rig if im not distracted,
except i still left my lighter on the roof, RIP Zippo.
Because i havent listed it in over a year
here is everything broken on this this rig
Wiper motor/or pulse board in the front and Rear
Hinges, front, both doors top and bottom
Rear bumper is not attached and missing hardware (anyone know what size and thread type the bolts are that attach it to the brackets??)
Driver info display broken again, new one started flicking in and out of existence then stopped all together.
Needs calipers in the front
needs 4 rotors
needs E-brake rebuild
needs E-brake release cable
needs weather stripping, all of it.
rear axle shifted 1 inch out on the drivers side, needs leafsprings, already have new shackles, springs appear slightly twisted so am unsure about reusing them.
front suspension overdue for rebuild, nice loud clack over any significant bumps.
power steering pump makes a horrible racket
tire sizes mismatched front and rear
vacuum system needs a rebuild still
4WD INOP, dash switch or TCCM, unsure as to which currently but it aint right.
Tranny dumping fluid for days, atleast its not clunking since i found out i had no rear brakes at all and fixed it.
Tranny Crossmember is missing a bolt, and the rest are sticking out untightened by about 1/2 an inch or less.
Transfer case needs a quick pickover, new input shaft seal and fresh fluid fill.
Exhaust taps the frame in the rear because i overseated the muffer onto the flange adapter when installing the new exhaust, resulting in the entire system being too far forward at the muffler. and then overtightened the horseshoe clamps denting the pipe making it impossible to reverse
...i think thats it?
Oh and the liftgate lock actuator broke its clip.
and the rear glass outside button is non-operational.
...
and one of the little hold-in support tabs broke off the C pillar so i cant attach my jack cover with the cargo-cover that came with the truck from Moraine.
wonder how much money i'll have in this thing once im done.cant be more then sticker price + inflation so im probably fine.
What im saying is. DO YOUR MAINTENANCE.
