Depends on which 4.3 you got?
By the way, all 4.3 V6 engines are Vortec motors. It is the way the heads are designed. GM didn't start advertising it as such until later years. '96 and up is when everyone typically thinks of the Vortec engines, however they all are.
I have heard you can use your current ecm, swap out the TBI fuel injectors for those from a 350 V8 and shw will work just fine. Dropping in the 4.3 is just as much work as dropping in a V8. Might as well go V8. Or you could sell what you bought and buy a 3.4L v6 from a rear wheel drive vehicle. It will be a direct swap and gain you about 20% more hp and torque.

i never thought about a 3.4 liter and drop that in i'll keep that in mind but i think i'll just keep the 4.3liter it cant be that much work to drop a 4.3 in place of the 2.8, guy at work were telling me just to replace the frame mounts and i'll be on my way i know witht he v8 swap u would have to push the rad into the rad support. and make room around the 4x4 shifter to go back.
