Default 95 with Tranny Issue

What up everyone. My 95 is runnin strong. I just hit 189k. The question I have is regarding the transmission. Everytime I switch from park to drive I hear this loud clunk! It happens everytime no matter what. I replaced the transmission mount a few weeks ago and the noise went away for a couple days. I know this cant be good, what is causing this to happen and how can I resolve this problem?

if anyone has a related thread please link me to it.

thanx

Could be excessive drivetrain slack... But if replacing the trans mount fixed it once, I would have a look at it again...

Ok, the one I pulled out didnt appear to have much wear. Do you think I should replace it again?

They are typically torn and you can feel play in them. If the old one did not feel loose, then it may have just been a coincidence that it "cured" the problem for a short period of time.

Is your truck 4wd? If so, it could be the torsion bar cross member mount. I remember a thread awhile back discussing this mount and the replacement of it so a search should turn it up.

its a 2wd. I think it was coincidence that the noise stopped when i replaced the mount.
