Default 97 4x4 multiple issues

I have a 97 Jimmy, and I'm having a couple of issues. Main issue is that I only have 1st and 2nd while driving. It will not shift to 3rd/4th. If I'm in Drive, then it won't shift out of 1st. When the trannys cold, I also don't have Reverse, I have to drive around for a little bit before it will kick in. The Reverse issue actually started first, but it wasn't a big deal until now I can't drive about 25MPH. Not sure if it's related, but my 4x4 will not engage either. If I switch to 4L, it sounds like it's pulling hard, but the front wheels are not pulling.

I've been told that it could be shift solenoids, and an actuator for the 4x4. If it's just going to cost a couple hundred in parts, I'll do it, but I don't have the $$$ to do a rebuild.

Any helps appreciated

can you shift into 3rd/4th manually?
i think a tranny shop could pull codes for you that will give you a better idea what to look for.
i know some shops around me give free inspections..get one if you can. if its something you can do then you have yourself a shopping list for parts as well.

I can't shift past 2nd, even manually. I'll check to see if anybody around does free estimates
