Default Auto Trans shift issues

Hello friends. Need some help please. Recently purchased a 99 Blazer ZR2 4X4. Pretty sure it has the 4L60E Auto transmission. An SES light came on (not sure if this is all related) and then starting out from dead stop felt like I was working 2nd or 3rd gear real hard to get going, high RPM's and although it would get to 65 MPH, RPM was between 2900-3100. Symptoms change as well. At one point the SES light went out and then thing shifted fine and then later slipped from 2nd to 3rd and RPMs went way up. It coded a P0758, the B Solonoid and from what I am reading that would explain the 2-3 mis-shift. How about the low and high ends? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Yes a transmission problem for sure. Fluid looks, smells fine and it is full according to the dipstick.

If you do some searching you will find an explanation given as to what solenoid is on for each gear. There are two solenoids and they are both used to control 3 gear shifts. I think you'll find that looking at that might explain the problems you are having. As far as an explanation I think the valve in the solenoid could either be sticking or be plugged with some clutch/metal particulate. You may be able to drop the pan and clean it or just buy a new one and install. Electrically it will either work or it will not(excluding bad connection somewhere between the ECM and the solenoid in the valvebody). However the valve that the electromagnet part of the solenoid actuates could stick randomly resulting in poor operation as well.

Thank you for the info and post. I did find some interesting reading (printed it) with regard to troubleshooting, symptoms and possible solutions regarding this transmission. I have purchased the "B" Solonoid and considering purchasing the "A" as well because I read somewhere it would be a good idea while work is performed in the pan, but I will leave that up to the garage I take it to to have drained and serviced, perhaps flushed. I appreciate the help from everyone. This is an excellent forum with tons of information. Thanks guys. Will post the outcome.

Okay let me try and get this straightend out. Kinda messed up my previous post with a new one that was moved....my bad. Had a shop replace the "B" solonoid a few days back and although it put the "SES" light out it was still missing (most of the time) the shift into third. Everything esle was working okay. take offs in 1st and overdrive would work once it would go thru third. Decided to take it to a highly recommended Transmission specialist and the evening I dropped it off the "SES" light came back on and the original problem re-surfaced......stuck what seems to be in third all the time. After swapping parts and some 4 hours of troubleshooting I'm being told everything is pointing to the "ECM". Will let you know how it turns out.

ECM did the trick. Not only does the truck shift smoothly its running better all around. Guess the flash on a new ECM rejuvenates things and kinda sets everything back to where things should be or something?? Anyway, there it is fellas for future reference.
