I have a 95 4.3 auto 4X4 thats makin a knockin sound. I comes from that plate over the flywheel/torque converter area. Doesnt seem to be hurting anything but its pretty loud. Its a constant knock no matter what gear park drive everything and it speeds up with the rpm any ideas?

It cound be a cracked flywheel. I had a 86 s10 that was knocking and the flywheel was cracked around the bolts where it mounts to the crankshaft.

It is very noticable when next to a wall like in a fast food drive through isn't it? The noise is more than likley the flexplate. They are notorious for cracking around the center where they bolt to the crank.

A transmission (motorcycle) jack makes things alot easier. Also helps to have some long socket extensions. Its not too hard... Just plan to have a Saturday free to do it.
