Hello,

I have been looking through some other threads but haven't been able to find a solution for my problem which is the following.
Yesterday I got an engine check light. My car is a Chevy Blazer 2001 4.3L LS Right hand drive.
For the past few days I have noticed my engine doesn't heat up until 90 degrees Celsius (based in New Zealand). It only goes up till about 60-70 degrees Celsius.
I have replaced the thermostat as I thought this might be the problem. I did test the old one and seemed to be fine but still have replaced it.
This actually didn't make a difference. Would anybody have an idea where to look to find the problem? I'm currently also looking into buying into a good OBD2 bluetooth tool so don't have the codes yet.

At the same time my HVAC motor is also broken. The wee pin that connects to a vacuum actuator broke off so I don't have hot air in my car at the moment. Could this be related to my engine not getting hot enough?

How long has it been since you did a radiator flush and fill? Might be as simple as that??? Just a guess on my end though

 

 

Check your clutch fan, make sure it's not locked and spinning solid all the time - My Dodge Cummins was running cold - thermostat, water pump ECT all checked out good but the clutch fan was bad, no free wheel at all

 

 

Engine off it will be stiff but you will be able to spin it all the way around. They make a loud whooshing noise at the start of acceleration esp. when engine is cold. If noise is continuous all the time and if won't spin I'd say it's shot.

 

Temp sending unit could be faulty. SES light could be on for the lower than expected temp the PCM is seeing. You did put a 195°F thermostat in it, correct? If only 60°-70°C, you should be able to hold the top radiator hose in your hand without burning.
