Default Fuel Pump Fuse

I have a 2002 blazer, and the other day it wouldn't start. I checked the fuses and the fuel pump fuse had melted. I took the DRL fuse out and put in the fuel pump fuse slot and it started right up. I drove it a couple of miles and checked the fuse and it was extremely hot. Could a bad fuel pump cause the fuse to overheat and melt?

more along the lines of a short somewhere making things difficult. Sometimes two wires will touch and rub through and start a short. If on the other hand the pump is semi clogged and it is working alot harder then it should it would be like putting a heavier load on a motor then it can take. Dig around first with a DMM first before you rip out the gas tank.

might want to look at a post on here by rifleman. he has a good thread about cleaning up the ground for the fuel pump. its linked into a splice pack and grounds a few things, but i was having some pretty serious issues with my pump, and since i fixed that its been fine. i think the post is called "finally found my problem"
