Default lock up convertor?

Hello I have a 2000 Blazer with 136,000 miles on it. The transmission shifts great no issues..but at 45-55 mph the tack drops about 100 rpm on off on off. My mechanic says the lock up torque convertor is the problem,he talked about unplugging it. What do you guys think off that? Is it easier on the transmission to unplug it.Thanks Jamie
