Default Lost Easy-out in transmission

I have a '96 4x4 blazer that just had one of the bolts on the starter brake off. I was centering the easy-out punch on the bolt to punch the center when it slipped out of my fingers and in to the hole the starter goes in to. So now the easy-out is at the bottom of what I believe is part of the transmission. There is a ,what looks like, circular metal plug. Is there away to take that out and fish the easy-out from there? Any other suggestion to get it out?

My '96 is missing that metal plate which should just pop out. Don't know about our trans but some also have an inspection plate across the bottom front of the bellhousing you may be able to remove.

96 and newer s series have a removable stamped steel plug in the bell housing. just pop it out with a straight blade screw driver and fish around with a flexible magnet. If you get a left hand drill bit from a tool place it should pull the broken bolt out as you drill. Righty tighty lefty loosy!!! We used to do it all the time at the chevy dealer. super fast and the average parts store will have the new bolt.
