new distirbutor, blue smoke engine turned backwards

I still dont see how the engine will start, then go in reverse..

Yeah, that is very strange. A small movement in reverse I can see (and have) as a cylinder comes up on a compression stroke and then rolls backwards, relieving the pressure, but not for a few seconds...

I guess is the better choice of words. I did follow the directions per the DYI(EDI Engine Timing) and it seems fine now. I guess I must have been off a tooth or two. Funny thing though about the new distributor I received for RockAuto, it didn't have the white paint mark on it, so I used the old distributor for a guide. It seems to be ok now, running that is. I am going to check it again in a little while to make sure, but I was wondering if I was off a tooth or two or more, should it have started in the first place. It just seems odd to me, that it would start and then the next day have the blue smoke, and the pressure release, I guess you called it. Wouldn't it have done it to start with?
