Default New Tranny Question

I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get arebuilt transmission. Looking for the cheapestI can find, around $600-900. What transmissions would fit? I have been looking on ebay andI'm not sure if all 4l60Es fit. I have a 2001 4x4 blazer. Thanks for any help!

I think all the 4L60E's should fit. But if you are unsure you could probably call some junkyards and they could give you a list of vehicles that identical ones would be in.

Not all 4L60E's are created equal. Some had a 2 peice case and others had a 3 peice case. I believe there is a post around here somewhere that detailed the year cut-offs for the different case designs. Ah, there it is. In '98 they changed to a bolt on bell housing. The transmission length also changed by a 1/2" between the pre-98 4L60E's and the 98+ 4L60E's.

So you'll need a 4L60E with a 3 piece case from a 98+ 4x4 truck. If you find one out of a fullsize truck with the 3 piece case, these transmissions will have a few extra clutches for the v8 applications so they should handle a bit more abuse.
