Does the shaking go away after you give it gas?
Sounds like it starving for fuel during start up. Turn the key to run, but not start for a second, then turn it too start and see if that makes a difference.

Another idea...Have you checked the motor and transmission mounts to make sure they are not broken?

Yeah the it only shakes when I start it then it is fine. I've tried just turning the key on for a second then starting and it acts the same. I will be checking the engine and motor mounts now though. I've thought of that but I thought if it was the mounts it would shake while at high speeds as well.

Perhaps, but not necessarily. I've had cars with broken mounts that only showed symptoms at start-up or engine revving while in 'park'.

I know its old, but what was the solution? i'm having the same problem, rough at startup, check engine light comes on; sometimes it smooths out after a few seconds, sometimes longer. thanks!

The CEL is trying to tell you something...

And why would you dig up a 2+ year old thread that has no resolutions posted in it when there are more than a few other threads discussing this topic and similar ones with trouble shooting steps, etc...

because this just happened to be the exact problems that im facing. i saw similar, but not exact problems in other threads. figured it was easier to resurrect and old one as opposed to starting a new one.

any answers?
