Default Tranny help!!!

Ok I have a 97 S-10 Blazer. V6 4L60E trans 4WD.
The last time I drove it it seemed the trans was slipping. With the history of the truck I figured it was time to rebuild.

Had the trans rebuilt. Test drove today and had the same problem! Once the tranny gets up to temp it seems to be slipping....When you put the pedal to the floor the motor revs up but seems to labor and the truck does not pull hardly at all. The guy that rebuilt it said he OHMed all the solinoids while he was in there and all checked good.

Also when you select 4hi or 4 lo the lights blink and you hear the clicking behind the dash but then they just go out.

Any suggestions?

Did you install a new torque converter?

reman yes.

Also found 4 wd drive fuse blown. Replaced, 4 wheel seems fine lights come on and I can hear noise in the transfer case. I have not put the front shaft in yet because I beleive it is bad...

Any how test drove it again shifting the gears manually. 1st and 2nd fine. 3rd it started surging and felt likeit was tring to "drive" correctly 4th felt ok but I didnt want to go too far.

Also noticed wile in park reving the engine it seems to be laboring and wont rev high enough for the rev limiter to kick in. Still no dash lights.

What do you mean by "did not want to go too far"? Was it just shifting out of 4th quickly? Depending on speed and how far you are pressing down on the accelerator, this can be normal.

The surging could be TCC (torque converter clutch) shudder. Without knowing how in-depth the rebuild was, this can very likely be the result of someone not being thorough enough. Could also result from a bad torque converter.

Have you discussed the condition with the rebuilder? Has he taken it for a drive to diagnose? If not, that would be the first course of action I would take. After all, your transmission should be practically good as new after a rebuild. And any mechanic worth his wages should stand behind his work.

Sorry I meant I didnt want to go too far not the tranny. I was a little concerned and didnt want to have to walk.

The mach that built it has been doing them for about 30 years. He will be in the hospital until wed for a procedure. He said it didnt sound like the tranny. This is about the same problem I had when I pulled it out. But before I started driving it the transfer seal was bad and the transfer case would spill tranny fluid out the over flow. At that point it would start slipping and they would just add more fluid. So when it felt like it was slipping really bad I decided it was time to have it rebuilt figuring it was pretty worn.. The mach did say the OD disc were pretty bad. He did a complete rebuild and I purchased a rebuilt converter from an auto parts store.

Now with that said I have been reading more. The cat converter does rattle, but since I had spent almost 1000.00 on everything else I was going to wait. Is it possible the converter is clogged?

How does it accelerate under wide open throttle? Does it get to a point in the RPM range where it just feels choked?

Most exhaust shops can do a back pressure test to see if the catalytic converter is at fault.
