Transmission or solenoids?
I have a 1997 bravada with 227k recently I notice a lag when I accelerate also when I would go from park to reverse or drive I would feel a clunk. Today as soon as I got on the highway it was running ok then traffic came to a stop and as soon as I started to accelerate it took very long for the gear to kick in and the service light started to blink. Now me reverse is out and I only got 2 gears not sure which ones but it’s take while to change gears. Need help pin pointing the problem I would like to k ok if it’s the solenoids or the transmission Also I was getting a loud grinding noise up front before all this started

First off, did you check the transmission fluid level?
When you check if it is full, also check the color and smell. If it is burned looking or smelling then there was likely damage to the transmission.
Take it to a auto parts store and have them use their OBD reader to check for codes.

yea i checked the fluid and it seem fine and i just went to autozone to check for codes and the only codes that came up were for the fuel injectors and intake manifold gasket codes. nothing for the transmission.
Sounds very much like a stripped reaction shell. Very common on these units.
