Default Trany Removal

OK, Is there a secret to removing the top two bolts on a 2000 4wd S-10 blazer trany. Even if I did get them out, installing these bolts back in will be a night mare. Help please!!

It is fun for sure. The easiest way is to first remove the distributor. Then remove the transmission mount cross member and drop the back of the transmission down. With a swivel socket and about 3 feet of extensions, you should be able to get onto the bolt and remove it. Installation can be tricky, but it can be done.

The trany oil lines appear to be just a press fit. How do you get these off? There is a small clip on the inside of the cap around the line..

There is a clip. They are quick disconnect fittings (a crude joke I am sure).

Is there a tool to remove these clips? Very little of the clip is exposed..

a small screw driver works well. The clips are paper clip thin and shaped like a horseshoe.

Like swart posted, the easiest way to get the top two bolts out is by lowering the tranny in teh back. Use a wobble socket, not a swivel extension and a socket. you wont have enough room to get the socekt past the flang on the firewall once the bolt starts to come out. Once the tranny is out, beat the firewall flange out of hte way, carefull of the wires and hoses. Or reinstall the same way it came out. I didn't remove the distributor, however I carefully lowered the tranny and stopped before the distrib touched the firewall. The rad fan blades will also make contact witht he fan shroud and watch tranny cooler lines.
