Wont go into park! Everything else OK.

That clip has to push up and out fairly far to disengage the teeth inside. Things are not threaded, but there are teeth in both the inner cable mount and on the clip. The teeth must disengage fully before you can move the mount point. That is the only way to adjust the cable.

OK figured, that out (duh). I fully understand how everything is supposed to move, and where (N) is on the gear selector & trans shift lever. When everything is set to (N) w/cable adjusted to that point and locked back down. No go. Even tried adjusting it with everything in (P) just to see if it would go, and it still wouldn't. For whatever reason it doesn't want to go past (R) on the trans shift lever. However I can still move it by Hand at the trans lever to (P).

Got it to work kinda. It's either (P) or (1). I'm picking (P). The adjustment is only like one tooth either way and I get one or the other. Could a new cable be in order? Thanks for all your help!

Is there any slop in the shift lever at either end? or stretch/compression in the cable that you notice? Does the cable bend when trying to get over the detent in the transmission before park? If the cable deflects between the mount and the arm at the transmission, then a new cable should cure that problem. You could also try to stiffen the cable yourself, but you really do need to know what you are doing to make that work.

There's no slop at the shift lever. I'll need to find another pair of arms to find out if it bends when trying to get over the detent (I'll get back to you on that one). Stiffen the cable huh.? Doesn't sound that difficult yet. I've adjusted it at the (P) detent just so I would have (P), and every time I drive somewhere it acts up again. If I don't drive it and shift through [email protected] it works everytime.
