1999 blazer worth buying?
Looking at buying a 1999 Blazer LS 4wd 4 door automatic.. I have read horror stories about transmissions going out among other things. Is this a vehicle I should stay away from? THe 4wd does not work the service light for it is on. THe guy said he thinks its just a module or the switch. Test driving it it shifts real smooth.

No tranny problems that I have heard of. I would have the codes ran on the SES light, and the 4wd is prob just a vacume line. We also need to know how much, how many miles, body condition? Those are very important pieces of info to give you any real feedback.

What really makes the difference is the price. Any of that can be fixed if the price is low enough.
Get the check engine light checked and see what is going on there. As for the 4wd, check the vacuum lines, electrical connectors, and switch.

It has 140,000 miles $3,995 The check engine light isn't on the service 4wd light is. I know when you pres the 4wd button nothing happens it doesn't light up or anything. THe body is excellant as well as the interior. I drove it for hour last night and it ran real smooth. NO problems there that I could detect nice cold a/c.

I just bought a 99 zr2 a couple of months ago, I ran a carfax on it found it only had 2 owners. Then I took it to a mechanic paid 75 bucks for him to look it over. I now have a list of everything he found wrong. You might have a mechanic look it over.

I would get a after market warranty if possible. I bought my 98 LT last year and within 7 months that warranty paid for it's self. Tranny and 4wd problems are pretty common complaints on edmunds.com. I second getting a carfax report if you can.
