Default 2022 Blazer RS or Jeep GC Laredo X

Hi All,
Just joined and looking to see if anyone is/was in the same boat as me. I have a 2018 Subaru Legacy and want to get back into an SUV. Considering the 2022 Blazer RS or the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X. Anyone else compared these two? Any pros for choosing the Blazer over the Jeep? Any major cons? I know the Blazer price point is a little lower and I think you get a bit more standard on the Blazer.

Thanks!!

I am not familiar with either.

Here are the things I'd consider:
  • Does either have Body-on-Frame construction? Is this important to you?
  • What do you want to be able to do? Tow? Go off pavement? Go off road?
  • How many people and/or how much stuff do you want to be able to transport?
  • Do you want to be able to tow? What is the towing capacity? Can you get an up-graded towing package?

I think this forum is mostly about the older blazers. The new ones are a dissapointent, just another modern car not even a real truck.. the older blazer have a really solid frame and go anywhere with very inexpensive parts....I miss simple vehicles

The new blazers members are slowly growing, might be slow for a response from them.

I had the opertunity of speaking to someone in person while with their new blazer, and the owner was extremely impressed and satisfied with it. Pulled a 3500 lbs trailer over 1000 km without even feeling it was there.

As I don't think they had offroad maneuverablility in mind while building this, alot of us will say this it is not a true suv. But they are still impressive, and I have even contemplated on getting one for roadtrips and such, and keeping my 99 as my offroad toy lol... retirement dreams....

I have never owned either one. But I believe both are uni-body, not body on frame like the Gen 1 and Gen 2 S-10 Blazers. I googled the Jeep Grand Cherokee LImited X with 4WD. It has a 3.6L V6 and a Max Towing Capacity of 6.200 lbs. The Pentastar V6 has 293 HP @ 6,400 RPM and 260 ft lbs of Torque @ 4,000 RPM. Both of these crucial figures are HIGH if you are going to use this SUV for towing.

Re reading my post above, I should have said: Both of this V6 engines crucial figures---both H.P. and Torque---are very high in the RPM range if you are going to use this SUV for towing. IOW for towing, you want the engine HP and especially the torque to start in the lower RPM range and continue to the mid to upper range. This is called a flat torque curve and is desirable for a SUV used for towing.
