Default 4x4 help

i have a 97 blazer LS 4x4. when i bought it the guy of course told me the 4x4 works. well i have found it does not. when i go to 4hi the light lights up but nothing.

we have replaced the actuator and now when i push the button i can hear what almost sounds hydrolic and click underneath but the 4x4 is not engaging. i also clicks underneath again when i turn it off.

when i do the 4lo i hear the same noise but when i turn it off there is an audible clunk in the rear that you can feel it.

the cable seems to be working fine as well. one guy has said that since the acutator is new and the cable is working then it must be in the front differential. any thoughts?

theres many threads on this i bet you can find your answer with the search feature

when you pull the cable lock it with a pair of channel locks

and see if the front wheels engage

best to see on something like slippery ice, mud, snow
