Let's look at it this way... Is your current Blazer in good shape? Anything else FUBAR on it?

How much for another 4.3 or a 350?

How much to do an SFA on it? You don't need to get mental and go with 40" super swampers, I've seen SFA's with 32's or 33's and it looks good and is much more capable than an IFS offroad. (Things like Crawling, etc.)

You need to look at what you could sell a Blazer with a blown engine for... and then the difference of buying a 4x4 that would be equivalent to the condition of your current truck. From there weigh your options. You can SAS a 2WD because you'd be ditching the front diff from the IFS anyway. you'd need the tailshaft, transfercase and driveshaft from a 4x4 Blazer as well...

Im liking the sas idea guys! thanks for that idea oktain, but i was thinking the same thing.... the ONLY thing wrong majorly with the blazer is the motor, and the suspension is a little beat, but thatd be take care of with an sas. Im going to save my money through june and see where that leaves me.

x2 on the checking craigslist for a trade. Gas has gone up 20 % here in the last while, theres lots of people that would trade Im sure. Sh*t man, post an ad and see if you get any replies.

Probably only going to get about 1000 bucks or less for the truck its sad to say, and the sales gonna be easier if you leave the stereo in for the next kid since the motors on its way as you say.

You maybe wanna check with your bank about a loan and just get the 4x4 as well and keep your 2wd. Then you could drive the 2wd around, and use the other 4play Nomasayin'? Your insurance shouldnt really go up much, cause you can only use one at a time right? I know mine barely changed to add a 2nd and 3rd truck on years ago.
