Nak, nice job, very well thought out and explained. Should make a believer out of any skeptical viewers. Maybe we can get Kyle to sticky this thread.

I'll echo the other statements, that was a great post. I recently decided to run some full symthetic, now that i stopped the leakage problem I was having. I had tried it once before, but that stuff was too expensive to let so much of it drop onto my driveway, parking lot, etc. I used Mobil 1 too, this time just because it was slightly better priced than the other choices at the auto parts store, I haven't used their product before. Looking forward to checking it out at my next oil change.

I was planning on pushing my oil change interval to 5000 or so now that I've ditched the conventional oil. Sounds as if I COULD push that further, but I won't plan on that. Besides, I like doing oil changes on the Blazer, more so than a couple of my other vehicles. I figure a 5000 or so interval should allow me an oil change in the fall when the weather is still nice, and then not have to worry about it again until spring, I really like the sound of that.

I'll admit, that once I purchased the oil, a Wix filter, and saw the bill at almost $60, I was having second thoughts about going with synthetic, but the decreased frequency should help even the cost out over time. . . .

Walmart has the 5 quart jug of Mobil1 5W30 for $27 and a Purolator Pureone (24011) filter for around $5. Best oil, best filter.... can't go wrong.
