I want a little more power out of my truck and i was wondering what would be the more reasonable choice. I could go for bigger heads and bore it out to get a boost in power.
Or should i just run this engine into the ground and find and 350 from like a camaro or rebuilt from somewhere and replace it with that.
Right now its got a 305 with the 700r4 transmission and only about 160HP.

The problem with a 305 is the bore is too small. And you can never bore it enough to hit that 4" bore a 350 has. Having said that, the same performance stuff that works on a 350 will work on a 305. Heads, cam, intake, will all boost the power of a 305. If you're looking for real power, though, the 305 will never cut it. The bore is simply not big enough to breath enough to make any power. 350's are so cheap they're practically growing on trees! That's the route I would take to get any horsepower.
