Default e-brake assembly repair

I'm new to this site and I don't know my way around as yet.

Just bought my wife a 2001 Blazer and the e-brake will not stay engaged. I have looked and looked and I don't find anything that might guide me to at least remove it from the car. Might be able to repair if I could just get it off. Thanks, Clay

Hello clay, I just joined today, had that issue for many years on a 1999 Blazer.. good brakes, just foot park brake wont stay down. finally had the time to check it out. sprayed( actually saturated it ) lolo.. the whole top of coiled spring area with white lithium spray lube. let it be for a day, then got to looking, 1st the pull handle to release had about 3-4 " before it would start to release. I kept foot on to keep pedal down, then pull handle and slowly raise foot with pedal. looked at end of cable where the metal ball is near end of cable. that goes thru the top notch/kook. worked pedal by hand watching movement. noted the cable slid forward and back . and the gap between. so I took a few plastic zip ties and place over the cable behind the end ball, then some more on cable behind the hook cable goes thru. that little bit of Mc Givering did the trick, Push park brake pedal down it locked and stayed down, and pull handle release .plus no more slack in pull handle from dash. so far this has lasted 5 months. and I've no issues. just wish I did this long ago lolo.. I do realize it may last a very long time or the Zip ties wear down or off in future? who know? but so far works cant find sorry pics took with cell phone
