I purchased my 96 bazer for $1800 about 2 weeks ago. So far the only thing I have done is an oil change and put a CD player in, but I have a long list of stuf:

1. Replace Door Pins & Bushings
2. Basic Tune Up
3. Add Tire Carrier in Rear
4. Fix Switches on Drivers Side Door (lock button, passenger window buttons not working)
5. Cold Air Intake or Better Air Filter

Got mine for $800 in January, probably approaching $1000 more into it by now. Done all the steering, one control arm (now the other 3 need done all at once), heater core, water pump, t-stat, all new front brakes including one caliper, new wheel cylinders in back, flushed the brake fluid and flushed the radiator out about 10 times. Runs like a peach now!

E: Oh and got my A/C working too, some aluminum foil to shim the compressor clutch and a can of R12 in the system and now it runs perfect and blows 50 degree air.

Where did you find r12?

Ebay. Take the $20 epa 609 test and get your cert, and it's perfectly legal to buy. The law only says they can't manufacture new stuff, they're allowed to bottle and sell new old stock and/or recycled R12.

It's pricey though, $34 for a 12oz can shipped. Plus you gotta find service gauges that'll work, I got some conversion fittings and can tap and used R134a gauges I rented from Autozone. So worth it in the end though, cools way better than 134, especially at low speeds. Plus you don't have to replace the orifice tube, remove the compressor, drain the mineral oil, replace the dryer, vacuum the system down, inject PAG oil and R134a... the refrigerant is cheaper, but doing the conversion is kind of a pain in the a** for inferior results.
