Bought my 4dr.,V6 vortec, Blazer new in '98. Just looked at odometer and I now have 396,413 miles on it. After I drove it enough to break in, I switched to Castrol oil and after 100k or so I started using the Castrol Hi Milage version. I change oil, filter and grease it every four thousand miles. I currently add about a pint after 2000miles and when within one to two hundred of hitting 4000 miles it'll be down another pint or so and I add a pint of Marvel Mystery Oil which I drive until I hit the 4000mile change target. Recently replaced intake manifold gaskets(upper and lower). There was virtually no sludge in the heads or down in the engine. Just a speck here and there in a couple or three places.
Over the years I've had the rear end bearings replaced. This was about 150k ago. Shortly after which I had the trans. go out and bought one from wrecking yard and had it installed. Have replaced alternator once and had it rebuilt once. Had the AC compressor replaced along with a couple of other parts of AC system. Currently have a bad ball joint. Got four Moog ball joints from Rock Auto Parts and plan to replace them when the weather here in NC decides to get a little warmer and stay that way! Got tired of having AC work done in shops and a couple years ago bought set of gauges, vacuum pump, and assorted other AC tools. Haven't had to go to shop since then. Took a good bit of studying, but when you are retired you have plenty of time. I have four older vehicles plus I try to keep two of my grown childrens cars maintained so have saved a lot of money just on the AC problems I've fixed. Thanks to this site and a lot of utube videos I've managed to learn as I go on the new stuff I encounter. BTW the intake manifold gasket replacement was one of the most challenging repairs I've ever done. I bagged, tagged, sketched and photographed at all phases of disassembly which kept things fairly easy to keep in order putting it back together. A lot of things that most people replaced, especially the fuel injection system, I just cleaned and bolted back on. Was hard to believe how much stuff was on top of the engine and had to come off. Surprisingly it cranked up and ran fine when I got done. Had a vacuum leak which was a bad piece of vacuum hose. Had to replace a leaky heater core once which was a really tough job that was comparable to the intake job, but had some competent help on that one.
Have really enjoyed the Blazer and other than the gaskets around the front doors and the back hatch which I've had leaking mine seems to be well made.
Again thanks to the posters that provided much info from their past experiences.

1999 153,061 miles
Garage kept by a nice family (dad owned then son)
Mostly their girls used to drive to school and college.
Not one dent and paint looks new still.
That's the main reason I chose to buy it and make it
drive like new again....not to mention a die hard blazer fan...Lol

275k on everything except the engine. It was replaced 10k miles ago with a GMPP long block. I only replaced the engine because I sucked up half a gallon of water one morning lol. It still did 15.8s in the 1/4 with 250k miles. Timeslips are on here and dragtimes.com

I bought my 1999 Blazer LS 2dr 2wd from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in summer of 2000 with 37k miles on it. ... Now have 370k... mostly easy freeway miles... Blew a head-gasket in 2013 at 310k. DID have a little "oil use" problem before I determined it was the head-gasket. Now uses almost no oil... might add most of a quart if I go too far between oil change... like 10k miles.
I blame my Blazer's long life on my use of Tribotech oil additive from day-one... every 40,000 miles until they went out of business... sometime in 2005... when I had 200k on my Blazer. Now I use a BG oil additive... Except for stretching distances on those oil changes, I have taken careful care to feed and water it properly. It is still running nice... my daily driver. ... Still running my original engine and transmission with no rebuilds... still looks nice inside and out, except for deteriorating black exterior-plastics around the rear windows. Still getting a reliable 20+ MPG.
I keep a spread-sheet of all service and maintenance expenses. Today I have just over $18,000 in tires and maintenance... on a vehicle I paid $17,000 for in 2000. I got my money's worth!
