Default Key Fob

I bought and 02 blazer a few months back and the keys I got with it were obviously copied and didn't come with a key fob. I do have auto door locks so I assume it had a key fob at one time.

Is this something I'll have to take to the dealer to get programmed or what do I need to do?

you can program it yourself.

here ya go!
1) With the driver door closed, hold down the power UNLOCK button on the door panel.

2) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

3) Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

4) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

5) Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

6) Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The remote control door lock receiver will respond by cycling the locks to indicate the receiver is in the programming mode.

7) Hold down the lock and unlock button on the transmitter for about 30 seconds. The locks will again cycle to confirm programming.

- REPEAT step 7 for each additional transmitter.

8) Turn the ignition to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.
make sure that when your switching the car to on and off you do it quickly. when i was trying to program mine i was doing it to slowly and took a half hour longer then i should have.

Thank you so much for this info. I guess my next question is, does this have to be a key fob I buy from the dealer or do they make after market ones that will work?

If you can find the receiver in your car, you can match which key fobs work with it.
