heres an update on my milage, it SUCKS!! I used to get 130 per half tank, now i get around 90-100 per half tank. thats with me being conservative with the gas, time to change the air cleaner.

i voted 18-19 as that is the average, but ive personally got 22 on a 161 mile round trip with mine. pretty impressive for a 5,000+ pound vehicle with a 4.3 and automatic trans. gears are the 3.42's and probly have alot to do with the good fuel milage. id rather have 3.73's for towing (and my parts truck-the '95 has them) but the 3.42's have the engine running at around 1,600rpm @ 55mph. (dont recall the exact rpm, i dont have a tach, was playing with the scan guage a few weeks back, was somewhere close to this figure) i do use cruise control as much as possible, stock 235-70-15 tires, boring street radials on factory alloy gm rims. i do also have a fresh air filter, tune up and new oil in the differentials. no accesories such as a grille guard. my '93 ford ranger that weighs a full 1,000 pounds less (@ 4,300 pounds) with a 4.0, manual trans and 3.73's only gets 19.5 at best with a average of 17 and only around 15 in town. i do like the ford suspention and brakes better for towing. but the blazer is a better ride for just passenger duty's. im sure milage will drop when the weather is cold, it does in any other given vehicle. dad said he got 23 with this '97 blazer once on a trip to N.Y. and back, pulling a empty boat trailer on half the trip! i think its all the little things that add up, properly tuned up, fully inflated tires, light application of the skinny pedal (thats the hardest for me!)
