Default Sandbags/Extra weight

Well, Iowa got some fun snow over the last couple days. I'm fairly new to rear wheel drive vehicles. I've noticed the backend gets a bit fishy from time to time and it tends to slide pretty easily. Mine is a 95 2DR 4x4.

Does anybody on here put weight in the back of their Blazers for the winter? I'm guessing the 2DR are a bit lighter than the 4DR are.

Also, what is the general rule on using the 4x4 (mine is push button part time)? I've heard no pavement and under 40mph, but the roads out here go from snow/ice to concrete to snow/ice pretty quick in areas.

Sorry, I'm sure these are extremly newbie questions, but my last winter car was a 93 Talon...a bit of a change.

I wouldn't add weight in rear, blazer already have plenty of it lol. And i use 4x4 to get going. Or when it's really bad i keep it in 4x4 and drive about 20 down the road.

my rule of thumb

2wd = non-snow covered or if I feel comfortable on snow covered roads
4wd hi = snow covered roads/if I feel I need it
4wd lo = I'm stuck or moving slow (under 15mph)
