Default Springs for Blazer with 454

I have an 81 Chevy Blazer. I am putting a 454 in the blazer and just wondering if weight of the 454 is going to put any negative effect on the springs that I put in. I called 4wheel parts and they suggested Pro comp leaf spring lift kit. It did not have a specification on Engine Block size. The kit comes with Leafs, Shocks, 4 " block for the rear and an add a leaf. I also called a Chevy dealer and talked to someone in service that has experience in 4x4's, he said that the 100 - 150 lbs difference is not going to hurt me at all.

I appreciate any suggestions you guys can give me, I am new to a lot of this.

Thanks,

Mark

The front will probably sit a little bit lower, and ride a touch softer... Otherwise, shouldn't be too much of an issue...

If it sinks too much, you could always add a leaf.

Thanks! I hope I don't come across any issues. Either way you're right I can just add a leaf onto the front. It's only about 120 lb difference.

Thanks again.

If anyone else would like to comment, please do.

Just have someone that weighs around 120lbs sit on the hood and see what you think. I really don't think its anything to worry about its not a huge difference or anything.

Oh and post up some pic's of that beast!

Thanks Gocartone....Problem is I have not bought the Springs yet...I want to be sure that I am buying the right set of springs for my application here before I put them in or spend the money. The motor is not in the Blazer yet...I'm waiting to get the spring set first then put the motor in. It seems like everyone agrees that it shouldn't make a difference. I hope I don't have any problems, lol.

Here is a pic...I just bought this thing 2 weeks ago. I got this 454 in the pic and another 454 that is in running condition. I started cleaning out the inside of the truck and I am working on the motor as well.

My Beast

Here is the floor that I am currently cleaning up..

Greco, I fixed your image tags for you. The built in forum posting links that are provided by photobucket don't work. what I put in displays the automatic thumbnails that photobucket generates, but links to the full resolution image (800x600 is a bit large for some people). If you want to know more, just PM me and I can explain further. Nice truck BTW!

Looks nice! What are your plans for it? Are you going to restore the whole truck? And yea now that I think about it a few people I know have front bumpers on there trucks that are custom built 300+ lbs and there trucks don't sit a whole lot different.

I put a 454 with an estimated 600HP in my 84 elcamino and didnt change any springs, it sat a little lower than normal from having a 305 in it but i didnt care i just wanted the eng in it,,,, And i never bottomed out anywhere...your suspension should be strong enuff already for that..
