what have you gotten done on your blazer today?
Was the solution simply to replace the gas cap?

No but after 15 years, it was time for a new one anyway and I was able to cross the cheapest thing off the list of possible causes at the same time. Actually found that the filler neck is leaking. Filled up last night, and everything around that area was wet with gas when I checked it this afternoon. Will have to study up on how to correct the problem.
Nice find blazen. All the ones I've ever seen in the scrap yard (and I've seen many) have been damaged already. And you found the three most difficult ones in what looks to be perfect condition. Maybe you should buy a lottery ticket? 🤞
Blazen_red: let me know how that goes... might be looking that way for my next expense.
green: I did that two weeks ago.... I'm down to my carbon canister... light kicks on and off since I put the gas cap on.

Had a new to me 2002 Blazer arrive yesterday. Pulled battery out to charge it on the bench and uncovered mystery #1 on this new project. A broken black wire going to the deep dark depths behind the engine. Will have to get under it to see where in the heck it goes.
Lots of work to be done this thing. And I now have more questions than answers. Such as why is there an EGR on the intake that's not plugged in when 2002's aren't even supposed to have EGR's..
So in summary , what I have done today is just start to uncover a pile of neglected Blazer.

I got the trans bolts, ( had to pull newly installed distributor ) and converter bolts out and then wrestled with exhaust manifold collector bolts for over 2 hours today, until dark, broke one Craftsman 3/8 universal/swivel but did not break any of the bolts or strip any nuts. (one stud backed out ) Dropping the transmission for a rebuild ASAP. Man-O-Man, is it a tight fit all around ! Yesterday I dropped the T/C I had removed and reinstalled to replace the front seal a few weeks ago when I replaced the timing chain, also removed the drive shafts, crossmember, electric, shifter, and vacum connections. To do : Trans. lines and dip stick tube then she's outta there !

Well , got a new battery today, and much to my surprise after hibernating for a year , the thing starts right up and actually runs pretty good...
Due to some overheating concerns by the prev owner and moisture in the exhaust , we need to give it a cylinder leak down test sometime this week...Then we'll know how to proceed in bringing this thing back to life..
Hoping for some solid results..

Installed new ac delco cap and rotor in an attempt to eradicate the p0300 and p0304 codes.
Also checked to see if my headlight lenses were installed correctly per the thread on the S-10 forums site, and was surprised to discover they weren't. Apparently they can be installed incorrectly and the black lock down pieces will still clip on. The tabs on the bottom of the back of the housing bracket are supposed to slide into the fittings on the front end support. Made a world of difference in visibility. Y'all might want to check yours.
After all that business, I gave her a bath inside and out.
