what have you gotten done on your blazer today?
And you can get money for the old catalytic converter from metal recyclers. I have my old one and keep forgetting to find a place that'll take it. $50 to $70 I think.
Mine needs to come out. Luckily I can just remove it where I live.
That’s good to know! Thanks!!
I finally solved a problem that's been driving me crazy. My Blazer would run fine when it was cold, but as soon as it got up to operating temperature, it would start running super lean at WOT and lose a ton of power. One of the first things I suspected was the MAF, so it was one of the first things I replaced (with an extra one I had lying around). It didn't change anything, and I've been tearing my hair out for weeks trying to figure it out.
To make a long story somewhat less painfully long, I finally replaced the MAF with a brand-new Delphi unit (upgraded newer style) and now it runs perfectly. The moral of the story? Never trust used parts you have sitting around.

Just made 2 scrap runs this summer. They're getting $110 a gross ton for whole cars and light iron, and $180 a gross ton for #1 steel.
I scrapped an old 1st gen S10 cat, and got $60 back in June. The prices are volatile - they can fluctuate worse than fuel prices sometimes. Seem to be steady this year, though.
Foreign cats are worthless. I got $7 for cat material out of a Volvo, and $18 for a whole Subaru one. Another out of a '03 PT Cruiser got me $53.

A couple of weeks ago, I cleaned the Blazer up and drove it to OKC for "lifeboat" duty. The Blazer has been through the mill and its mainly a standby vehicle now. My daughter's boyfriend's junker Honda crapped out and he was afoot. Charged the AC, washed and vaccumed and now the blazer rides again. The kid is thrilled to have a working, driving and AC'd car. Heat indexes here have been in the 115 range. It's nice to have the car running and driving every day. I hate to see it sit
