If it starts off ok but won't hit 3rd or overdrive, then it's the 3-4.
I'm going to install a shift kit while I'm under the truck. Firmer shifts and a new TCC valve should prolong the life of the transmission. Then there's the matter of the remote oil filter adapter on the bottom of the block that appears to be leaking...

i have a 98 jimmy,that showed a code several times(transmission).,,but i always just erased it.
it usually came during a hi-way trip, sometimes loud clunk during shift.
waiting for it to happen again, but pretty much no hiway for this dog.
thanks!
I bought the expensive NAPA parts. I don't want to put $14 ball joints in a truck that I hope to keep for at least a couple years. I once put the $14 Turkish Auto Zone ball joints in my 1992 GMC Vandura and have regretted it ever since.

The P1870 code means the transmission is slipping at highway speeds. If you do some searching here on the Blazer Forum you'll find various causes for that code. In my case it's slipping in overdrive and it has the hard 1-2 shift once the tranny warms up. That points to a worn TCC valve. I got an oversize replacement valve as was recommended by others on the forum. I also bought a TransGo orange box shift kit which I'll install while I have the valve body out.

It sounds like you may have the same issue on your transmission. It might not be a bad idea to investigate further and fix it before it causes a further problem. The 4L60E, when cared for properly, can give a long service life.

Bought this yesterday for my truck. Its off a WJ Grand Cherokee. Looks to be a close fit. Ill be moving the mount brackets this weekend to bolt it on and see what I need to change for it to fit perfectly. For $100 it wasnt a bad buy.

Installed the antenna adapter for the new delco radio... Every thing works... I moved her around and then parked it. I wish I can fix my fuel issues already.
