if it was brown...it was rust. who ever had it before you ran water in it and its rusting on the inside of the block. i suspect that you will need a water pump, heater core and radiator some time in the future. it may not happen for years but, eventually the rust will plug up everything. sorry for the bad news. if your heater core goes out first bypass it until you have enough time and money to change the water pump and the radiator. it will be worth it to you in the long run.

You may be partially correct twip. Dexcool is know for gumming up and plugging crap and with this comes the rusty appearance. Flush the system really well using a coolant flush additive and refill it and you should be good to go. Some people say don't use green stuff but I did will zero ill effects to date and guess what nothing is clogged either!!

Pulled the Air filter off the 2dr ZR-2 I bought a few days ago.... I should have do it the day I got it.... It'd a K&N and it was literally full of debris. I don't think I've ever seen a K&N so damn dirty. Should have taken pictures. Any way got it cleaned and man, throttle response is excellent now. Tomorrow I might finally do the tune up lol and possibly service the diffs.

I got the trans filter done yesterday(pain in the *** to do it on the ground lol)

+1

I did the same thing rex. I flushed out everything real good then used the green stuff and haven't looked back. I would dog Dexcool again but the last time I did that on these forums one of the admins told me off. So I shall zip my mouth about this subject now.
