I always thought the LS was the base level? That's how it is on my wife's cobalt. There is the LS, LT, and LTZ, which is the highest trim level. Ours is an LS, with zero options. Manual windows, locks, even a stick shift! I know they didn't have LTZ blazers, I think that came around later. Maybe they are just different trim levels, as opposed to one being higher?

I also saw that LS can stand for Lower Trim and LT as higher trim.

I would think that this would be the oppiste, wouldn't you?

Lower trim level for sport? What about the mud?
