Default Fuel Pressure Relief

I'm changing the fuel filter on my 2000 Jimmy 4.3L and of course I want to first relieve the fuel pressure. I searched this site and found 3 possible ways to do it: remove thr fuel pump relay and try to start the engine, wrap a rag over the Schraeder valve and open it or wrap a rag around the fuel filter and crack the line open. I was just wondering which method you folks prefer.

since you are changing the fuel filter, i would say that you should wrap a rag around the fuel filter and crack open the line.

And? There are many ways to relieve the fuel pressure. Have you tried any of the three?

I prefer the pull the relay and start the vehicle. It has never let me down, and results in fuel not spraying anywhere.

I vote for this method, I hate smelling like gas and since most gas today is carcinogenic with the addition of MBTE in its liquid state this method burns the gas and leaves as little as possible to get on me!!!!!
